World Organization of Students and Youth (WOSY) organized a panel discussion titled ‘Women as Transformative Agent for Global Harmony and Governance 2.0’ on International Women’s Day at Satyakama Bhavan, Delhi University. Foreign Students from 10 countries made presentation dwelling into the topic and documenting their experience on Women as Transformative Agent. The students representing student from 20 nations participated.
The program was attender by nearly 150 foreign students. Prof. Neeta Sehgal, Proctor, Delhi University observed that women have always played pivotal role in social, political and academic life.
Ms. Aarti Bangia, a bureaucrat at Ministry of Commerce elucidated that women has become the focal point of the whole development process. The development agenda needs to made more gender sensitive. Also, the economic empowerment of women is a pre-requisite for overall development of society.
Ms. Bhawna Rajpal, GM, Schneider Electric pointed out that women’s role in families is often ignored. Almost 70% decision in houses are taken by women, but it is seldom acknowlegded.
Dr Abhishek Tandon , Chairperson person of World Organization of Students and Youth (WOSY) on the occasion of international women’s day addressed the foreign students from over 20 countries. He said ‘India is a peace loving country and is not at war with any country but terrorism. He further said India is badly affected by terrorism sponsored by neighboring state and seek cooperation from global community to eradicate terrorism. Wosy believes in vasudhaiva kutumbhkan world is one family and welcome students from all the world to our country . Women are playing key role in all walks of life and it’s an excellent opportunity to make our women feel special on this day.‘ WOSY is affiliate workshop with foreign students. Students from around 20 countries participated in women’s day celebrations. Other speakers included Prof Neeta Sehgal , Proctor, University of Delhi , Ms Arti Bangi , Deputy Director Ministry of Commerce and Ms Bhawna Rajpal, GM , Schneider Electric.
Dr. Abhishek Tandon, Chairperson, WOSY Delhi Chapter observed that the isssue of recognizing Women as a Transformative Agent will bring about a fundamental and monumental shift in resolving and approaching global problems in a more nuanced manner. Abhijeet Dwivedi, International Secretary, WOSY stressed that WOSY has been engaging with the globe through the foreign students who will be decision-makers of future and has been trying to arrive at a consensus about future course of through a series of activities over the last 5 years.
